It seems that Ricky Martin’s twin son’s Matteo and Valentino are celebrating their first birthday! Ricky posted this pic on his Twitter page Thursday with the caption, “a year ago!my son’s first bath!”

So sweet!

I think my husband and I were too exhausted to take any photos of our kids’ first baths, because I can’t seem to find them! Instead, here is a picture of my younger son getting ready for bath time at about 4-months-old. Goodness he was a chunk of a baby!

Oh gosh- One of the reasons why I’m looking for a good camera is there are so many times that we’ve been out and I realized that we have no camera and our kids are doing something cute. The one moment that is sticking in my head is the day that my older boys came to see me at the hospital with the new baby.

My oldest looked at the baby, then at me, then back at the baby and with all seriousness and concern in his voice “Is there another baby in there?” Pointing at my belly.

Oh, it hurt so bad to laugh! He was so worried that there was another baby – I guess that’s one to put into a parenting book too- just because you have the baby doesn’t mean that your belly is gone! I’d love to have that moment on camera. I don’t know why, but it really does stick out there!

Our youngest daughter Bethy doesn’t like to talk in front of people she doesn’t know extremely well. For the longest time, we couldn’t convince my mother or grandmother that she did really talk – a lot! I’d love to have some of those first days of conversation with her in the house to show people just how much of a chatterbox she is around Mommy and Daddy!

I feel like I have one of those moments once a day, but one in particular sticks out in my mind. I was at the zoo with my then 20 month old boy. We were in the cafe, just finishing and he ran off ahead of me. In front of him, he saw a girl, about the same age, standing next to her parents. They both stopped in their tracks, looked at each other, then took a few steps toward each other and kissed. After the kiss there was a big hug and they separated and were on to the next thing without a look back. He had never seen this girl before, and was never to see her again. To have that on camera….

There are soo many things that my now 19 month old son has done that I wish I could have gotten on film…but I guess if I was to pick one…He has an obession with football. and Loves watchin it and loves trying to play football and seem to think everything is a football lol…and one day i had him in the kitchen with me well he got into the refrigerator and started taking eggs and throwing them yelling football…well once i got him out of those and started to clean that mess up I turn around and he is doing it with the potatoes. it was just to darn cute to even be mad lol.

Today, I read her blog post which noted that she recently began what she calls The Mom Show, and posted Episode 2 titled Self Image 100-Day Challenge.  The challenge is designed to empower Mom’s, women of all ages, with a secret tool in order to feel better about their self image, and to be the healthiest women that their kids know.  What is the secret tool you may ask?   Watch.

This was one of those “Ahha!” moments for me.  The secret in feeling good about yourself is blessing others with what you do best.   Right!  Go Michelle!  

Think about how you feel when your kids give you that extra hug at the end of the night, or how you were able to snuggle a bit more with one of your kids, or how you helped someone carry a grocery bag out to their car or how you got in touch with an old friend.  Don’t you feel good after these things happen?  You don’t focus so much on how you think society perceives you; you focus on your own happiness, the happiness that you’re spreading to strangers and the happiness of your loved ones.    

So you, yes you, are making the world a better place and feeling better at the same time! 

By laying out your goals and commitments for the next 100 days, you can turn your self-image around while also helping others.   Maybe you need to stop saying “yes” to everything, or quit smoking or spend more time with your family.   Hone in on anything that you need to do to maximize changing your life – and set your own pace.   Make it fun!  You can even get your family and friends involved – create a group!
